OK, you guys definitely get that this is satire then, right? The ones who took it seriously and gave it a thumbs up concern me a bit.

People are taking this way too seriously; the artist was just trying to point out how ridiculous it is that people have become so jaded toward human death but get so worked up about dogs. I enjoyed it far more than the last site I stumbled on, some global warming propaganda - as if that has never been done.

Okay, that is pretty great. What makes it particularly entertaining to me also is how many serious debates I have actually had with people over Cartesian rationalism versus existentialism, and really I have been on either side of the debate, though often just to play devil's advocate. What I have found in all seriousness is that rationalism, if followed far enough, actually tends to justify post-modernism in that Descartes made no more progress in finding what we could know with absolute certainty except that a thinking self exists in this moment, if only as a disembodied consciousness, a fact upon which nobody has managed to expand upon effectively as yet - any argument for the existence of a reality external from the thinking self falls apart under careful scrutiny, and the alternatives proposed tend either to depend upon the existence of a god who would be fooling humans into believing in an external reality or they collapse into solipsism, a reasonable but unfortunately dead end. I believe that existentialism sprung up as a result of Cartesian rationalism not proving anything meaningful and the need for philosophy that one can actually apply to living, even if the exact nature of life cannot be determined. Still, lots of people still cling to the idea of absolutes, particularly absolute moral values, and it can become a cause for conflict.
Still, the contrast of the way they were discussing it and the nature of Jerry Springer: hilarious.

Making fun of Steve Jobs and the war - great. My only gripe is, too much time on the war, not enough time on Apple and Steve Jobs (that pretentious bastard). The war has been done to death. It's not really even funny anymore. It's just sad now.
